Asja Mijović
Communications Coordinator
Asja Mijovic is a conceptual artist and curator from Podgorica, Montenegro currently based between her hometown, Paris and New York. Her practice spans sculpture, installation, and video, often grounded in material experimentation and the poetics of decay. Much of her inspiration comes from chance encounters—moments stumbled upon in transit, when the body is still but the world moves. She seeks out these encounters through long train rides, aimless walks, and believing in the luck and intuition of movement.
She received an HMC scholarship to attend Ashford School in the United Kingdom. She went on to earn dual bachelor’s degrees from Tufts University: a B.A. in Philosophy and Civic Studies, and a B.F.A. in Studio Art through the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. During her studies, she was awarded an exchange scholarship to the Beaux-Arts Academy in Paris and received the Joyce McDaniel Prize for Excellence in Sculpture.
Asja is devoted to collaboration and regularly works with fellow artists on curatorial and film projects. She has co-curated exhibitions in Germany, Montenegro, France, and the United States, and held roles in public relations at Karma Gallery and Bortolami Gallery in New York. She currently serves as Communications Coordinator at My Balkans. She is fluent in English, French, and Montenegrin, and conversational in Italian.
